THE NAME
A homemade spaghetti strand is taken, rolled against a knitting needle and stretched. This way a strand shaped like a serpentine is obtained. With industrial production, the Fusillo was perfected with a hole. The term derives from the Italian word fuso (spindle) that indicates the wooden tool used to spin wool by hand, which for its continuous spinning is similar to the action of rolling the pasta. Variable in length, there are an exceptional variety of local names indicating its wide diffusion throughout Italy.
