THE NAME
The term takes its name from the ribs that characterize the external side of the shape, obtained through the incision made by a bronze extruder. They are also called Bombardoni, Cannaroni rigati, Maniche, Trivelli (from the tool which drill holes) and Tufoloni rigati. In Roviano (region of Lazio), popular imagination has given them the peculiar name of Scorzasellari (celery), since the characteristic rib pattern gives them the appearance of a stalk of celery.
