Sceneggiatura

Albertazzi finds in the archive of his eclectic grandfather two pieces of film joined together that deal with two very different topics. The first fragment shows Ottavio Bottecchia (1894-1927), a bicycle runner who inaugurated the series of Italian victories in the Tour of France. Bottecchia was a masonry worker who was unknown to the public until the day of his victorious arrival at the Park of Princes in Paris, in the last stop of the Tour de France (1924).
The other part of the film concerns instead Luigi Pirandello (1867-1936), the greatest Italian play writer of the first half of 1900s. The images of 1926 show him while he is directing a rehearsal of “Henry IV”. Albertazzi narrates that in Rome, at the end of the first representation of “Six characters in search of an author” the audience threw coins on the stage (a negative gesture), since they did not comprehend the fundamental importance of Pirandello’s work that marked a definitive turn in modern Italian theater. The final advertisement lines of the campaign follow.
