Albertazzi’s grandfather was not only interested in mundane events, and in his album are collected also images regarding important historical events. In this case the topic is the Hindenburg Dirigible that on May 6, 1937 caught on fire at Lakehurst and precipitated with its 36 passengers. Thus the brief era of dirigibles ended.
Those were the years of the so called “American Follies” that created news and great commotion: like in the case of the young man that had tried living for 30 days perching on a fireman’s ladder, or of the woman that went around riding an ostrich, or of another man that raced on a motorcycle wearing a blindfold on his eyes.
Jazz Music and side shows featuring incredible characters became very popular, like the Sioux Indian chief “Fast Horse”, who had long and fluent hair that in his show he tied it to a rope attached to a plane while he was lifted. Because of the frequent performances of this show, the Indian chief became bald. The final advertisement lines of the campaign follow.
